Arresting Delhi Law Minister is a bad case in politics

Delhi Law Minister arrested for declaration of fake degree. Yes, giving a false declaration is an offence. But one has to see this in Indian perspective. In India having a degree is not an eligible criterion  to contest in elections.  Even then many candidates declare fake degrees to improve their profile among the voters. If one applies for an Engineer's job without an Engineering degree, then the offence become greater as having a degree is a basic requirement for that post.  This is not the case in politics.

Therefore, a number of candidates give fake degrees, fake declaration about marriage (example: Modi himself), under declare their income to project themselves as honest and not after money.  If the law is applied purely based on the affidavit given in the election form more than 80% of our elected members including our PM will be behind bars.

Coming to the present case, tomorrow if the Court declares that Mr. Tomar degree is indeed fake he may resign as Minister on moral grounds and may still continue as an MLA.

That is the reason, BJP has taken a bad case and inadvertently increased the profile of Arvind Kejriwal in national politics.  May be he will thank Modi for this sometime in the future.

Keep Defence Institutions away from politics

Coast Guard has done a wonderful job by intercepting an unknown boat and followed all procedures to neutralize the treat perception. While defending a Nation the Defence Forces do not have the luxury of analyzing whether the approaching object (in this case a boat) is a terrorist or a smuggler or a tourist. As per the operating procedure if the approaching boat has disobeyed the Coast Guard warnings, the Coast Guard has no choice but to isolate the boat and ask them to surrender. It is not the concern of Coast Guard, why the men on the boat decided to blow the boat and commit suicide instead of surrendering. That is for future investigation.

If the Coast Guard and the Defence Ministry had come out without a statement, things would have been put to rest.  The problem started with BJP spokesmen started talking about the incident even before Coast Guard or Defence Ministry statement as a Media event. That is where all politicians, opinion leaders came in. It will good for India if all political parties including the ruling party keep away from Government functioning.

Unfortunately, all politicians instead of patting the good work of Coast Guard has demoralized all defence forces.

10 point agenda is vague but better than no agenda

Narendra Modi’s 10 point Agenda is more verbose than any benchmark to monitor progress.  However, it is still better than “No Agenda” of Congress party

My take on these points:

No.
Point

Action needed
1
Build up confidence in bureaucracy so they do not fear to face the consequences
Free Khemka of all charges.
Stop CBI action on former Coal Secretary P C Parekh and go after real culprits.  Give freedom a few top sincere Officers.  The message will go down
2
Innovative ideas welcome and babus will be given freedom to work.
Babus are the first executives who stop innovative ideas.  Innovative ideas from below should reach top without any hindrance. Open online ideas to be encouraged
3
Education, health, water, energy and roads will be priority.
Vague statement.  Need to identify projects with time bound programme and key persons responsible for implementation
4
Transparency will be in government. E-auction will be promoted in tendering and other government work.

Stop subjective decision making process. Any project above a given amount should not be taken up without E-aution
5
A system will be placed for inter-ministerial issues to ensure better inter-ministerial co-ordination.

Instead of pushing the files from Ministry to Ministry a common meeting to be held once in a week and all the files cleared after discussion with joint signatures.
6
A people-oriented system will be in place and government machinery will be geared up to fulfill the mandate.

Does not make any sense
7
Addressing concerns relating to economy
Very vague.  Not an Agenda, it is a job of any Government
8
Infrastructural and investment reforms
Very vague. Need a time bound project and implementation methodology, to make some sense out of it
9
Implementation of policies in a time-bound manner.

Just a repetition, to increase agenda points and impress
10
Stability and sustainability in government policy.

Again, no action needed, except sincerity in whatever the Government does

Social Media is the new Auditor, new Judge and the new Justice dispenser

For Mr. Modi and BJP’s massive win, social Media is partly responsible.  If one looks at the Twitter and Facebook messages since 16th May after the announcement of results, many people have congratulated Mr. Modi’s mission (Mission 272), of bringing in BJP Government, and Mr. Modi also reciprocated the Twitter messages to a good number of politicians, celebrities, Media personnel, business men and any person with some standing.  This is a welcome change from a totally non-communicative Prime Minster to instant non-bureaucratic and matter-of-fact replies by Mr.Modi.  After the results, Mr. Modi’s Twitter followers has increased from 39.87 lakhs to 41.10 lakhs, creating a sort of records on number of followers added, to an individual account on a single day.

This very Social Media will put Mr. Modi on alert. Look at the other messages on the Social Media since 16th May.  A news item on the state-wise percentage of Criminal MPs and MLAs of all parties is making rounds on Twitter.  Mr. Subramaniam Swamy through his Twitter handle informs that Mrs. Priyanka Gandhi Varda has admitted that she is holding three Director Identification Numbers (DINs) and also admitted that it is a mistake to hold multiple DINs though she claims that it was an inadvertent mistake and Ministry of Corporate Affairs has codoned her mistake. Mr. Swamy also informs that Mr. Kartik, son of Mr. P Chidambaram, former Finance Minister is holding 6 DINs and the Ministry is seeking an explanation from him.

Apart from these issues, there are various topics like Crony Capitalism, Gas Price, books on Manmohan Singh, criminal activities by some of the State Governments, communal and secular issues being discussed on the Social Media.  Take the case of Mr. Akilesh Yadav.  He was elected as the youngest Chief Minister with comfortable number of seats for his party in March 2012.  Everyone thought he was young, dynamic and will bring a positive change in UP which is ridden with caste politics. In just a few months over 2 years, he lost everything.  This happened because Media and Social Media highlighted his misdeeds like Muzaffarnagar riots and his inaction, MLAs tourism visit abroad while the riots refuges are dying in shelter camps, break down of law and order and histrionics of Azam Khan and other MLAs on whom Mr. Akilesh Yadav as Chief Minister has no control

Again, let us look at Arvind Kejriwal.  He was the darling of Social Media but his one mistake costed him dearly.  His untimely resignation as Chief Minister of Delhi without any valid reason was not liked by the voters and they punished him.  The voters’ anger was expressed largely through social media.

On the other hand Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh who understands the importance of Social Media is communicating to the public through his Twitter handle. He informs the public about road projects, fund distribution details to farmers hit by hailstorm and such other activities.  This way today he is seen as an interactive Chief Minister.

Congress had the luxury of hiding information and misinforming the public as Social Media was not active during their first term (2004-2009) and the scandals came out in the second term and the Social Media has taken up all the issues like 2G, Coal Scam, Adarsh Scam, Railway scam along with Main Stream Media (MSM). In fact, there was a conspiracy of silence by MSM and political parties on the land deals and undue benefits by Mr. Robert Vadra till this was taken up by Arvind Kejriwal and the Social Media,  The Main Stream Media (MSM) was forced to discuss these issues after information was available everywhere.

Today, Mr. Modi has many issues on hand.  All the scams inherited from the previous Government, the scams within BJP and also criminal and corrupt activities by members of his party, apart from governance issues, price rise etc.    Public will seek response from him on these issues and expect replies the way he is replying now to their congratulatory messages.  If he does not take action and be firm on administration, he will be judged critically very soon, the way Akilesh Yadav or Arvind Kejriwal has been judged.  Every State election, or a Municipal or local body election will become a referendum to his actions.  To add to his woes, there will be some elections in some part of the country all the time.  This way Mr. Modi wil be put on alert on the Social Media.

One last word about AAP, which is very active on Social Media alongwith BJP.  It has contested 434 seats and won 4 seats.  All these 434 candidates have developed at least a team of 50 persons who worked for them. These 20,000 and above members are well educated and have tasted the dynamics of political activity.  They will continue to be active on Social Media and watch every move of the Government and intervene and seek answers.  Apart from these members, there are lakhs of fans for AAP and BJP and Congress who will be watching the governance of BJP.

In effect, Social Media becomes the Auditor, the Judge and Justice dispenser all in one.  Mr. Modi and political parties watch out.  The day of the citizen has arrived.

Recently, India's most well-known film script-writer Salim Khan (actor Salmaan Khan's father) has said to a senior journalist in an interview: "Does anyone remember who the chief minister of Maharashtra was during the Mumbai riots which were no less deadly than the Gujarat riots of 2002?

Does anyone recall the name of the chief minister of UP during Malliana and Meerut riots or that of the Bihar CM when the Bhagalpur or Jamshedpur riots under Congress regimes took place?

Do we hear names of earlier chief ministers of Gujarat under whose charge, hundreds of riots took place in post-Independence India?
Does anyone remember who was in-charge of Delhi's security whenthe 1984 massacre of Sikhs took place in the capital of India?

How come Narendra Modi has been singled out as the Devil Incarnate as if he personally carried out all the killings during theriots of 2002?"
No speck of doubt about what Salim Khan has said.
When one says Gujarat's agriculture growth is 10-11% since whole last decadeThe other says 2002 Riots!

When one says he made the Asia's biggest solar plant,The other says 2002 Riots!
When one says Gujarat is the only state in the whole of India to provide 24*7 and 365 days electricity to almost all of its 18,000villages,The other says 2002 Riots!
When one says - World Bank's statement of 2011 said, Gujarat roads are equivalent to international standards,The other says 2002 Riots!

When one says Gujarat is the first State in country to have "high speed wireless Broadband service in its all 18,000 villages,The other says 2002 Riots!
When one says Forbes Magazine rated Ahmadabad as the fastestgrowing city in India and 3rd in the world,The other says 2002 Riots!
When one says Gujarat Tourism is growing faster than ever before,The other says 2002 Riots!

When one says according to central govt's Labour Bureau's report, Gujarat has the lowest unemployment rate in country,The other says 2002 Riots!
When Narendra Modi is being chosen as the best current Indian leader inalmost all surveys & polls again and againThe other says 2002 Riots!
When one says 2003-2013 are the only 10 straight years in Gujarat history which are totally riot-free,The other STILL says 2002 Riots!
But when we remind them about riots which occurred during Congress and in Communist Party rule :

1947 Bengal....5,000 to 10,000 dead ...CONGRESS RULE.
1967 Ranchi....200 DEAD..........CONGRESS RULE.
1969 Ahmedabad...512 DEAD........CONGRESS RULE.
1970 Bhiwandi....80 DEAD.............CONGRESS RULE.
1979 Jamshedpur..125 DEAD......CPIM RULE (COMMUNIST PARTY)
1980 Moradabad...2,000 DEAD...CONGRESS RULE.
1983 Nellie Assam.....5,000 DEAD...CONGRESS RULE.
1984 anti-Sikh Delhi...2,733 DEAD...CONGRESS RULE
1984 Bhiwandi....146 DEAD....CONGRESS RULE
1985 Gujarat.....300 DEAD..CONGRESS RULE
1986 Ahmedabad......59 DEAD.....CONGRESS RULE
1987 Meerut....81 DEAD...CONGRESS RULE
1989 Bhagalpur......1,070 DEAD......CONGRESS RULE
1990 Hyderabad......300 PLUS DEAD....CONGRESS RULE
1992 Mumbai....900 TO 2000 DEAD....CONGRESS RULE
1992 Aligarh....176 DEAD.....CONGRESS RULE
1992 Surat.......175 DEAD.....CONGRESS RULE

they become totally deaf ..................because they have no answer.
Congress is a government of hypocrites.
The youth of India says:............
We are not interested in 2002, We are interested in 2022
Kindly note

BJP has officially declared Shri Narendra Modi as PM candidate of BJP...Now its our duty to MODIfy India's future by voting for BJP and help it win 270 seats. This is d last chance to ensure a better future for us. If given another chance to Congress to rule for 5years, Then even Google won't be able to find "INDIA"
Regards,RAMESH MISHRA

Salute the Civil Servant

Salutes to you Sir ...

"District collector, U.
Sagayam of Madurai, Tamil
Nadu - By refusing to take
bribes, the Madurai collector
has earned 18 transfers in 20

years, a modest house and
bank balance and lots of
respect"
Three years ago, as district
collector of Namakkal, Tamil
Nadu, U. Sagayam voluntarily
declared his assets: a bank
balance of Rs 7,172 and a
house in Madurai worth Rs 9
lakh. Once, when his baby
daughter, Yalini, who had
breathing problems, was
suddenly taken ill, he did not
have the Rs 5,000 needed for
admitting her to a private
hospital. At that time he was
deputy commissioner (excise)
in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu,
and there were 650 liquor
licences to be given out. The
going bribe for each was
rumoured to be Rs 10,000.
(He needs a special mention
here because the assets of
an IAS officer-couple in
Madhya Pradesh were valued
at Rs 360 crore. They had 25
flats in three cities)
'Reject bribes, hold your
head high', says a board
hanging above Sagayam’s
chair in his modest office.
That’s the code he lives by,
even if politicians are
incensed they cannot bend
him their way—he’s been
transferred 18 times in the
last 20 years—and has made
enemies of both superiors
and subordinates. “I know I
sit under a dangerous slogan
and probably alienate
people,” he says. “But I have
been the same Sagayam
from Day 1. Standing up
against corruption is not for
a season. Nor is it a fad. It’s
forever”, he says.
On a hot summer afternoon,
on Madurai’s busy main
road, the district collector,
U. Sagayam, saw a young
man talking on a cellphone
while riding a motorbike. He
asked his driver to wave the
man down, got down from
his car and meted out
instant punishment: plant 10
saplings within 24 hours.
Somewhat unconventional
justice, some might say. But
that’s how Sagayam works.
He also took on a mighty
soft-drink mnc when a
consumer showed him a
bottle with dirt floating in it.
He sealed the bottling unit
and banned the sale of the
soft drink in the city. In
Chennai, he locked horns
with a restaurant chain and
recovered four acres valued
at some Rs 200 crore.
Sagayam’s masters degrees
in social work and law come
in useful in his role as an
administrator. He knows the
rulebooks in detail and is not
afraid of using them,
however powerful the
opponent. No wonder then
that Sagayam’s career is
marked with the scars of
countless battles.
Sagayam’s wife Vimala has
stood by him all these years
but she was rattled by some
of the threats during the
elections. “He always says if
you are right, nobody can
hurt you,” she says. “But
sometimes it becomes
difficult.”
Sagayam says he learnt
honesty on his mother’s
knees.
